AI Taxi Overview

The MTM-TAXI system introduces an intelligent, fully autonomous NPC taxi service to FiveM servers. Built as a dependable transportation solution for both roleplay and freeroam environments, it enables players to hail a taxi from any roadway and be driven smoothly to their destination without requiring active human taxi drivers.

When requested, a licensed yellow cab navigates through live traffic to the passenger’s exact street location, halts smoothly at the roadside, and waits for the passenger to board. Once seated, the passenger simply drops a map waypoint, and the automated chauffeur navigates the San Andreas road network to deliver the passenger safely to their stop.

Intelligent Roadside Pickup

The taxi spawns seamlessly along the nearest roadway node and drives directly to the passenger, pulling over smoothly with the handbrake applied.

Waypoint-Driven Autopilot

Passengers simply mark their destination on the in-game map. The AI driver plots an optimal route along vehicle nodes and navigates through traffic.

Smart Off-Road Validation

If a player sets a destination on an inaccessible mountain peak or in the ocean, the driver halts safely and politely requests a road-accessible stop.

Zero-Leak Entity Cleanup

Once the passenger exits at their destination, doors lock automatically and the taxi despawns cleanly after a configurable delay, preventing server lag.

Unlike scripted teleports or erratic driving bots, MTM-TAXI relies on GTA V’s native vehicle node network and advanced driving tasks (786603). The driver honors traffic lanes, respects road speed limits, maneuvers around stopped vehicles, and brings the cab to a gentle stop at red lights and intersections.

When the taxi arrives within pickup range, a dedicated entry loop enables the passenger to step directly into the rear passenger seat by pressing the standard vehicle entry key (F). The passenger is never forced into the driver seat or displaced by awkward ped collisions.

To prevent broken paths and unrealistic behavior, the driver evaluates the passenger’s location upon calling:

  • If the player is standing on a steep cliff, in water, or inside an enclosed interior without road access, the driver immediately notifies the player that the pickup point is unreachable.
  • When an en-route passenger moves their map waypoint to an off-road location, the taxi pulls to the side of the road, engages the emergency handbrake, and prompts the passenger to select a road-adjacent waypoint.

4. Seamless Smartphone and Script Integration

Section titled “4. Seamless Smartphone and Script Integration”

MTM-TAXI includes a clean client export (StartTaxiJob) that can be bound to any custom smartphone app, radial action wheel, NPC dispatch dialogue, or chat command. This makes it effortless to offer an on-demand ride-hailing service within your server’s mobile phone scripts.
