Matrix Signs Overview

The MTM Highway Matrix Signs system brings realistic, intelligent motorway traffic management to FiveM servers. Designed for emergency services, highway authorities, traffic control centers, and dispatchers, the system replicates real-world overhead highway gantries across the San Andreas motorway network.

Overhead matrix gantries can be controlled in real time through an interactive in-game road map, a dedicated tactical tablet app, or a standalone external Web Control Center with REST API support.


Interactive Live Road Map

Fullscreen high-resolution map of San Andreas covering all major motorways. Pan, zoom, and inspect live gantry status with animated flashing indicators.

Multi-Gantry Prop Streamer

Distance-based prop streaming engine. Allows any number of gantries across the entire map to be active simultaneously without client memory leaks or frame drops.

Comprehensive Traffic Signals

Independent lane-by-lane control for both carriageways. Supports advisory speeds (10-130 km/h), lane closures (Red Cross), green open lane arrows, hazard warning signs, end of restrictions, and lane merge arrows.

External Web Control & REST API

Decoupled HTTP REST API and standalone web control interface for dispatchers and external CAD/MDT integrations outside the FiveM client.


1. High-Performance Multi-Gantry Prop Streaming

Unlike basic scripts that struggle to render props across vast map distances, the MTM Matrix Signs system features a high-performance, distance-based prop streamer:

  • Props stream in seamlessly as vehicles approach at highway speeds and unload automatically when out of range (Config.RenderDistance = 350.0m).
  • All active highway configurations are automatically synchronized to server storage (active_matrix.json).
  • When the FiveM server restarts or the script reloads, all previously activated highway signs are instantly restored.

Each gantry supports independent lane-by-lane configuration for both the left and right carriageways:

  • Advisory Speeds: 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 120, and 130 km/h.
  • Lane Control Symbols: Red Cross (lane closure), Green Arrow (open lane), Restriction Clear (end of restrictions), Arrow Left (merge left), and Arrow Right (merge right).
  • Hazard & Warning Signs: Traffic Jam (File), Slippery Road / Ice (Glad), Accident (Ongeval), and General Hazard (Uitroepteken).

Operators can control traffic situations across three different interfaces:

  1. In-Game NUI Menu: Accessible via /matrix:menu or the configurable F5 keybind.
  2. MTM-PADUI Tablet App: Fully integrated into the virtual iPadOS tablet for on-duty patrol units (Coming Soon).
  3. Standalone Web Control Center & REST API: Run via browser or dispatch console with full external REST API connectivity.
